Barber Talks is the flagship program of Single Dads United — a safe, welcoming space where single fathers can connect, grow, and be supported in a familiar environment: the barbershop.
More than a haircut, it’s a conversation. More than a gathering, it’s a brotherhood.
Barber Talks creates intentional moments for fathers to build relationships, access resources, and strengthen themselves — so they can continue strengthening their families.

For many fathers, the barbershop is one of the few environments where real conversations happen naturally. Barber Talks uses that trusted setting to create meaningful dialogue around fatherhood, responsibility, growth, and leadership.

Free Haircuts
Every Barber Talks event includes free haircuts for single dads and, when possible, their children.
This removes a financial burden, restores confidence, and reminds fathers that they are valued. A fresh cut isn’t just about appearance — it’s about dignity, pride, and showing up fully for your family.
Mental Health + Community Connection
Barber Talks creates space for honest conversations about stress, parenting challenges, emotional wellness, and life transitions.

- Information and referrals for custody, visitation, child support, and parenting education programs.

Free Notary Services
- No‑cost notarization for documents related to employment, housing, education, and legal matters.
- Removes financial and logistical barriers for fathers needing official documentation.
3. Emergency Assistance
The Unity Support Fund is a critical component of Single Dads United’s mission to stabilize families and prevent homelessness among single fathers. This fund provides targeted financial and practical assistance to ensure fathers and their children have access to safe, secure, and sustainable housing.
Purpose of the Fund
- Addresses one of the most significant barriers single fathers face: securing and maintaining safe, stable housing for their families.
- Ensures fathers can remain housed, avoid crisis situations, and create a stable environment where their children can thrive.
Housing Assistance
- Support with completing rental applications and navigating housing processes for fathers seeking safe, long‑term housing solutions.
Emergency Rental Assistance
- Short‑term financial support designed to prevent eviction, displacement, or interruption of housing during periods of crisis.
Security Deposit Assistance
- Financial assistance to cover deposits and move‑in costs that often create barriers to securing stable housing.
Emergency Utility Assistance
- Support for fathers facing urgent utility shut‑off notices or struggling to maintain essential services such as heat, electricity, and water.
4. Educational Scholarship Fund
Educational Access & Technology Support
Supporting both children and parents in their pursuit of education and long term success.
Program Purpose
- Reduces financial barriers to higher education.
- Expands access to technology and academic resources.
- Supports long‑term family well‑being and economic mobility
Scholarship Awards (Twice Annually)
- $1,000 scholarship for a graduating high school senior.
- Each scholarship recipient also receives a brand‑new laptop to support academic success and online learning.
